In a Time of Thanks

My family, like many others, is celebrating Thanksgiving today, but I wanted to take a minute to thank you...
I'm thankful there's such a large and growing community of people that are part of our medical cannabis program and for all the new people who are gaining safe access to medical cannabis. Every day more and more people come into the medical cannabis program, showing and proving how medical cannabis is an important issue that program regulators, policymakers, and the mainstream media need to take seriously.

I am very thankful for all the producers in our program for providing us the medical cannabis we have, and the staff that they all have that is serving the 50,000 plus medical cannabis program participants - please take time to thank all those working at Dispensaries on Friday...

Together, just by actively paying attention, we're making sure that decisionmakers who set laws and regulations are doing the right thing more often.

I'm especially thankful for those who understand that advocacy and journalism bringing to light developments on medical cannabis and other issues doesn't just...happen. This work to hold decision makers accountable results in better policies for all of us. It’s important for all people within OUR medical cannabis community to know THEY are the power; the government, legislators & policy makers are lead to us and ‘We The People’ have the power to change the laws and government - people in it, policy being written, and overturning rules & regulations that disrupt safe access to our medicine.

Not one state’s medical cannabis law is perfect, they are working pieces of democracy and this is where WE can establish patient community lead policy in New Mexico and many many other states. We have the science, the research, the knowledge - the information the policy makers don’t have and we need to get it in front of legislators and state government officials.

We all have a role in being sure that this grassroots movement grows, stays true to its roots, and acts like a mature social change movement. Dialogue and discussion are necessary and we need to be able to listen non-defensively and communicate respectfully if we are going to achieve the goals we want for our medical cannabis program and future legalization legislation policies.

Patients OVER Profits!

Happy Thanksgiving,

Jason
